Economic Chamber and ASSOCHAM Sign Memorandum of Understanding

The Economic Chamber of North Macedonia and the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishing a framework for strengthening economic and business cooperation between the two institutions, with the aim of creating new opportunities for companies from North Macedonia and India.

On behalf of the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia, and in the presence of the Chamber's Executive Director, Antoni Peshev, the Memorandum was signed by Dr. Nikica Mojsoska-Blazhevski, Vice President of the Management Board. On behalf of ASSOCHAM, the Memorandum was signed by Saurabh Sanyal, Secretary General of the organization.

Under the Memorandum, the two institutions commit to deepening bilateral economic cooperation through the exchange of information on trade and investment opportunities, fostering partnerships between companies, organizing business delegations and trade missions, and jointly hosting conferences, business forums, seminars, workshops, and other events of mutual interest.

Particular emphasis is placed on promoting investment, innovation, technological cooperation, entrepreneurship, and stronger connections among companies, investors, startups, and other relevant stakeholders from both countries. The Memorandum also provides for the preparation of annual work plans that will define priority activities and sectors for cooperation.

During the meeting, representatives of both business organizations presented their respective activities, explored opportunities for cooperation, and highlighted investment potential aimed at strengthening bilateral business ties.

ASSOCHAM is India's oldest national chamber of commerce and industry, representing more than 450,000 companies through its network of regional and sectoral chambers.

Today, India ranks among the world's leading economies, recording a total foreign trade volume of approximately USD 1.84 trillion in fiscal year 2026. Total exports reached USD 860 billion, while imports amounted to USD 979 billion. India's principal export products include engineering goods, petroleum products, electronic equipment, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals, while its largest export markets are the United States, the United Arab Emirates, China, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.

Total trade between the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of India amounted to USD 39.1 million during the period January–April 2026. Of this, Macedonian exports totaled USD 574,000, while imports from India reached USD 37.5 million.

Macedonia's principal imports from India include tractors, antibiotics, glazed ceramic tiles and mosaic cubes, telephone equipment, pharmaceutical products in measured doses, and sesame seeds.
