On 15 December 2025, several vehicle rental (rent-a-car) companies joined forces to establish a Vehicle Rental (Rent-a-Car) Group within the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia, with the aim of pursuing their common interests in an organized and effective manner. This association will enable the Group’s members to take an active role in shaping legislation relevant to the sector, to present joint positions and demands before the competent institutions, and to ensure better coordination with other stakeholders.

Through organized action within the Economic Chamber, rent-a-car companies will strengthen cooperation with other associations operating under the Chamber, leasing companies, insurance companies, and vehicle inspection stations, as well as with the Ministry of Interior and other institutions relevant to their operations. In particular, the introduction of the Ministry of Interior’s Safe City project has opened a number of practical issues related to the application of new rules, especially for rent-a-car and leasing companies, making additional alignment and clarification of obligations necessary through direct dialogue with the Ministry of Interior.

The members of the Group will advocate for the introduction of operating licenses, increased discipline, and the improvement of traffic culture, that is, stricter and more responsible compliance with traffic regulations by all road users. The Group’s objective is to work jointly, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, to raise public awareness of road safety through campaigns and activities, as well as in partnership with responsible private companies (leasing companies, insurance companies, vehicle inspection stations) and other stakeholders.

With the establishment of this new group, the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia further positions itself as a comprehensive chamber that unites and represents the interests of companies from all sectors, reaffirming its role as a recognized institution that professionally and effectively safeguards the interests of its members.

At the constitutive session, Branko Rafajlovski, Director of ABC Rent a Car, was elected President of the Vehicle Rental (Rent-a-Car) Group.
