PROTOCOLS ON IN-COMPANY PRACTICAL TRAINING OF STUDENTS APPROVED

It is an undeniable fact that the vocational skills are mastered exclusively through a manual process, a training process, i.e. a work process under real working conditions when putting the theory into practice. Whereas the virtual teaching, imposed due to the situation with the Coronavirus, may produce results in the theoretical knowledge, its impact on the acquisition of vocational skills and competencies of the students is uncertain. Concerned about the smooth run of the practical training and the summer practice of the students in the companies, and its smooth implementation under the newly created circumstances, the Economic Chamber of Macedonia, as a business association, started preparing the Protection and Safety Protocols on on-the-job practical training of the students.

With the support of the Project “Education for Employment” and with the direct involvement of the companies and the cooperation with the Center for Vocational Education and Training and the Ministry of Education and Science, measures were defined to protect the health and safety of the students who will do the practical training and the summer practice in the companies, including safety precautions for both the employer and the student. The measures were translated into the General Protocol on preventive measures during the implementation of the work-based learning, summer practice, practical training and exercises of the students at the employer and Protocols for several sectors, i.e. the mechanical sector (mechanical and automotive industry), the agricultural and veterinary sector, the chemical and technology sector (food industry) and also the personal services sector, tailored to the specifics of the operation in the sectors.

The Protocols on preventive measures during the implementation of work-based learning, summer practice, practical training and exercises of the students at the employer were published in the “Official Gazette of RNM” No. 215 on September 4, 2020.

What remains is for the Protocols to be respected and implemented in practice; the companies to open the doors for the students and with full cooperation with the vocational schools, the practical training to take place in a real working environment.
